aviation minor.

An aviation minor is available to UNO students majoring in fields other than aviation who have an interest in aviation and would like to complement coursework in the major with selected courses offered through the Aviation Institute.

The aviation minor has been developed as an interdisciplinary program to broaden educational opportunities for all UNO students. The current and future demands of the aviation industry strongly suggests the need for well educated and highly trained professionals from a variety of disciplines. A minor in aviation provides the student with a foundation of knowledge that will help bridge the gap between his or her specific field of study and the air transport industry.

Degrees that an aviation minor could enhance include: Computer Science (BS), Criminal Justice (BS), International Studies (BA), Business Administration (BSBA), General Administration (BGS), Engineering (BS), and Teacher Education (BS).

A minor in aviation requires a minimum of 18 credit hours in aviation, including at least nine hours of upper-level courses. Students must achieve a C– or better in each course.

For the minor to appear on the student’s transcript, the student must complete the College Major/Minor Form that can be obtained at the Registrar’s office. The form must be signed by the Aviation Institute Director and returned to the Registrar’s office where it will then be noted for the transcript.

Once the student applies for graduation, the Registrar’s office will contact the Aviation Institute to verify that the student has completed all the necessary coursework for the minor.

For additional information, contact the Aviation Institute to arrange an appointment with an adviser.
