bachelor of science in aviation.

From its beginning in September 1990 with five courses and 124 enrollees, the Aviation Institute has grown to offer approximately 50 courses to over 500 enrollees each term. At the same time, the Institute’s full-time and adjunct faculty have expanded to include nationally recognized authorities on aviation.

The Institute offers a Bachelor of Science in Aviation, which prepares students for aviation careers through its two specializations: Air Transport Administration and Professional Flight.

  • The Air Transport Administration specialization focuses on the air transport system and provides courses in airport administration, airline operations, and general aviation management.
  • The Professional Flight degree is designed for students who are interested in careers as professional pilots. The comprehensive program includes theory and practical flight training spanning the Private Pilot License to the Certified Flight Instructor Certificate. The Institute offers flight training through closely coordinated arrangements with local flight schools: Advanced Air at Council Bluffs Airport and Flight Nebraska Group at Plattsmouth Airport.
